The Space Coast Warbird Airshow rolled into Titusville, FL this past weekend. The host location was the Space Coast Regional Airport, just south of the City of Titusville.
For years this annual event has been known as the Tico Warbird Airshow and every year it boasts an awesome ground show with a variety of planes and exhibits as well as “in-air” shows.
Warbird Airshow From The Pool
Now, I must tell you that we did not actually attend this year’s show.
This year we stayed home and spent the better part of both days at the pool with local friends. The sun was baking and the temps were in the upper 80’s. Our fantastic spot for viewing the airshow was complete with lounge chairs, cold drinks, and poolside snacks .
Because we live just up the road from the show, we were able to enjoy two days worth of watching low flying aircraft. Both vintage airplanes, as well as “state of the art” jet fighters and specialty aircraft. It was the best of both worlds; laying by the pool and an awesome airshow!
We did miss walking the airfield and crawling around in the planes. I really wanted to see the large military cargo planes like the C-5 and the C-17. Also, we heard that there was a “bombing” ground show called Tora! Tora! Tora! that shook the ground!
We saw so many different planes overhead like the P-63 Kingcobra, a bunch of P-51 Mustangs, an old B-25 bomber, and of course, the Awesome F-16 Viper Jet!
No Thunderbirds This Year
Last year, one of the main draws to the local warbird airshow was the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Jennifer and I (Air Force kids) have both seen the Thunderbirds a number of times, but having them flying right overhead where we live was really cool.
This picture is from last year when the Thunderbirds were flying over the ICW and right over us while we were outside fishing.
This year there would be noThunderbirds, but the sky was definitely still alive with planes and crazy activity over the entire weekend.
We strongly recommend a visit to the Warbird Airshow next year!
That’s a short post on the airshow, and while I know it’s not boat related, we thought is was pretty cool and we wanted to share it with all of you. We’ll be sure to do an update on the boat in the next post.
